Embracing New Horizons

1st Year Elementary Teacher from Philippines

Seminole Elementary School, Okeechobee County School District.

I am beyond thrilled to share a momentous achievement with you all—I have been honored with the New Teacher of the Year Award at our school! This recognition is not just a personal triumph but a celebration of the collective efforts and support that make our educational community a beacon of growth and learning.

Embarking on this journey as a new teacher in the U.S. after years of teaching in the Philippines has been both exhilarating and challenging. I've not only faced the typical hurdles of adapting to a new culture and education system but have also encountered the warmth and support of a new family—TPG

TPG has played a pivotal role in my professional and personal development, acting as a supportive network that has helped me navigate the complexities of the American educational landscape. In a way, they've become my family away from home, filling the void left by the distance from my family back in the Philippines. Their guidance, camaraderie, and shared experiences have made this journey far richer and more fulfilling.

Having been an educator for years in the Philippines, coming to the U.S. felt like starting from ground zero. It's been a humbling experience, but one that has allowed me to challenge myself to learn new things on the spot. The TPG program, with its wealth of resources and the wisdom of fellow educators, has been instrumental in smoothing this transition.

I want to emphasize that my success is not mine alone; it's a reflection of the collective effort of my colleagues, mentors, and the vibrant community of learners that I have the privilege to teach. Teaching is not just a job; it's a shared journey, and TPG has been an integral part of making this journey meaningful and transformative.

To my fellow educators who might find themselves in a similar situation, I encourage you to embrace the challenges, stay open to new experiences, and cherish the support of your community. It's okay to be at ground zero; it's a fertile ground for growth and new possibilities.

Thanking God for using TPG in my journey, and here's to the continued adventures and growth that lie ahead in the world of education!
